My mission is to provide a safe and trusting space where individuals feel comfortable beginning the process of self-exploration. Through this journey, I aim to support and facilitate the changes needed to address the challenges they may be facing. This care is grounded in passion, compassion, and respect.
I believe in a client-centred approach to counselling, where I collaborate with clients to identify their goals and needs, and to develop a treatment plan tailored to their unique experiences. I view the client as the expert in their own life and empower them with choice and autonomy in determining the direction and focus of the therapeutic process."

I am a registered nurse with over 25 years of experience, the majority of which I have spent working in intensive care and critical care at a Level 1 trauma center in Ottawa. My background in nursing deeply informs my work as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), where I offer a space dedicated to supporting mental health and overall wellness.
My own journey through grief and loss has shaped my therapeutic approach and helps me connect meaningfully with individuals navigating similar experiences. I specialize in working with clients experiencing grief, trauma, and life transitions.
My therapeutic style is rooted in a client-centered approach, and I draw from various evidence-based modalities including compassion-focused therapy, existential therapy, and narrative therapy. I am also trauma-informed, and I prioritize creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their experiences and begin the process of meaningful change.
Whether you’re seeking support for emotional healing, personal growth, or navigating life's challenges, I would be honored to walk alongside you in your journey.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions about the therapeutic process—I look forward to connecting with you.

Stephanie Rackus – Counselling Services
I offer counselling for individuals aged 18 and older, with a focus on supporting those navigating anxiety, depression, chronic and critical illness, grief, loss, compassion fatigue, and burnout.
As both a nurse and a registered psychotherapist, I bring a unique perspective to my practice—one that blends clinical expertise with personal understanding. My background in healthcare allows me to deeply connect with clients who are caregivers or healthcare professionals themselves, especially those experiencing the emotional toll of compassion fatigue or burnout.
Drawing from my own journey and professional experience, I provide a supportive, empathetic space where clients can explore their challenges, build resilience, and move toward healing.
Welcome!
During our first session, I'll be asking you some questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. This helps me tailor the support to your unique needs and goals. You're also welcome to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process—this time is for you, and it's important that you feel informed and comfortable moving forward. We will also begin to explore what goals you may have in the counselling process.
A counseling session typically lasts for 50 minutes, with roughly 10 minutes set aside for administration tasks such as rebooking the next session.
Offering in-person and virtual sessions on Monday 1230-9pm, Tuesday 10-9pm and Wednesday 1230-9pm.
